Implants to replace a full arch of missing teeth
Where a complete arch of teeth has been lost, implants provide a revolutionary solution for replacing them.
Using 4, 6 or sometime 8 implants, a fixed bridge can be used to completely replace your lost teeth. These teeth are fixed in place and are not designed to be removed unlike a denture. This offers significant advantages and provides a solution which is the closest thing possible to natural teeth.
Each case is slightly different and this type of restoration can be constructed to match a person’s exact needs. We will determine which type of solution is most appropriate for you at your consultation with us.
Sometimes we are able to provide you with a complete set of replacement teeth in just one visit to the practice, where the implants are placed a temporary bridge added all on the same day. The final bridge will then be added in 3 to 4 months’ time.
However, it is often more appropriate to carry out a two-stage process where the implants are placed, allowed to heal fully and then the fixed bridge attached 3 to 4 months later. In the interim you would need to wear temporary dentures but these can be discarded after the fixed bridge is attached.
Dental implants are very versatile and can be used to provide a firm anchor to support a full arch of replacement teeth. This is often called "all on 4" and also "teeth in a day".
The implants use a special design which sometimes allows for the replacement teeth to be fitted on the same day as the implants are placed.
